Identity Crisis

A funny story from Romans 19:14-16 (you should really read it). I’m telling you I’ve read it many times myself and I’ve laughed, not until a truth was revealed to me there. Everything in the bible was written for a purpose, until you get a revelation, it will just remain insignificant.

Notice something from that story, the bible called those lads, “seven sons of Sceva, the chief priest”. They were actually sons of a priest, not just any priest but a Chief priest. Not only were they that, they were Jews with a covenant with God, children of the most high. Here they were, being asked by a mere demon, yes a MERE demon, who they were and they couldn’t answer. They simply didn’t know who they were, even though they had a long list of credentials with massive power embedded, they could not pull any out to show because they did not know. What good is a power you have and didn’t know you had?

While the result amuses us all, that is the exact same thing happening to us all today, we are being asked everyday by situations and circumstances, who we are and sadly, just like the sons of Sceva, many doesn’t know. We cry and complain when faced with situations and circumstances, many people’s first instinct is to stop going to church, forsaking God. The situation and circumstance was simply asking who they were, and because they really don’t know, the devil throws in all the chips, depression, confusion, disease, sickness, debt, oppression, worry etc. He deals mercilessly with them as he did the sons of Sceva.

Even when Jesus was being tempted, what the devil was trying to get him to do was to renounce his Identity has a God, but Jesus every single time, countered him with the Word. To know who you are in Christ and what you have Christ, get in the word (Bible) today and start discovering who you truly are and what you have in Christ as a believer, so that when sickness comes, you tell it, you’re the healed of God by his stripes, when debt stares you in the face you say, Praise God, He supplies all my needs and I have abundance.
