Romans 5:5

Too many times I have heard people say you have got to have plan A, B, C, so that if plan A does not work, you will switch to plan B and if plan B does not work you will switch to plan C. Somehow I have always struggled accepting that statement because I realized that often plan B is second best to plan A and plan C is third best, often the acceptable outcome. I asked myself why can’t I have my desires? why should I lower my standard and settle for something I almost would not want? If the bible really says if I delight myself in the Lord, He’ll grant me my heart desires, why can’t I have the best possible outcome instead of settling for an acceptable outcome?

I chose not to believe the statement till I had confirmed it with a scripture. I was reading through the book of Romans one day and I saw this truth in chapter 5:5 “Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us” (AMP). All of a sudden it all made perfect sense to me and as I began to meditate further I finally got my answer which I’m about sharing with you.

The revelation behind Romans 5:5 is hinged on the revelation of the Love of God towards us. If we really understand and know how much God loves us we would not again think about our plans falling through. God is Love. His love for us is the greatest, most powerful force in the universe we can ever count on. Take for example your very good biological father or for some a father-figure, who to you is the best in the world. Think of his natural love for you and how well he would want you to succeed in life. He supports you in whatever you do and gives everything he humanly possibly can to make sure you succeed. That is a natural human father, who is limited in resources and abilities, if he was ready to give so much for you, How much more God, who is better and greater than your father, who is unlimited in ability and resources. His love for you is even stronger than the love your father have for you and God is ever ready to show you how much He loves you but if you continually reject it, there is nothing he can do. But if you count on His love, knowing He will always come through for you whenever you need Him to support or assist you and ways and places you need Him to, then He will come through for you.

First you need to believe, and that is the “hope” Romans 5:5 is talking about that does not disappoint. The Hope in the Lord, the believe that God will stay true to His words and will never disappoint. The hope that when you make your plans with God involved, He will always make sure you are not disappointed. The bible clearly states that “…the expectations (hope) of the righteous man (i.e. you through Christ) shall not be cut off” (Proverbs 23:18, 24:14)

In essence what I’m proclaiming to you is that with God, your plan A will always work because He loves you and wants the best for you and He has the ability and resources to make it happen for you. As a believer, there should not be anything like plan B or C, it is either plan A works or it works. Yes there might be setbacks, but they are not failures, hold on to the your hope in God and He will come through for you.
