Many compare or group Christianity with other religions of the world. I’ve heard many say there’s no difference because we all believe in a higher power, some religion even believe there is a God out or up there. Some believe it’ll take deep meditation to connect with the spiritual world in order to connect with God, who is a spirit-being. While all those are not far-fetched, because God is a spirit (John 4:24) and He is a higher power but Christianity is different from other religions of the world. Christianity as a religion is the only one that its object of worship is on the inside of its followers. Other religions have their object of fellowship on the outside, either up there in sky or in a particular object that is worshiped.
In the Old testament, the spirit comes on the men of God often and on kings but did not dwell inside them. The spirit “dwelled” inside the Ark of Covenant or in the Holy of Holies of the Temple/Tabernacle but under the New Covenant God does not dwell in such temples any more (Acts 7:48, 17:24), now he lives in us (the believers). Our body is the temple that God dwells in now (1 Corinthians 6:19, John 15:4, Colossians 1:27, 1 John 4:4).
The essence of Christianity is Relationship with God, developing a relationship with the God on your inside. That is why you can connect with God anytime, any day, anywhere because he’s inside you and has promised he’ll never leave you nor forsake you.
Isn’t it amazing to know that the all-sufficient, all-powerful God is on your inside? All the answer you’ll ever need, all the power and strength you’ll ever need is on your inside. Trust the God on your inside more, cultivate the habit of looking on the side for answers not outside. Many trust the God in other’s lives, pastors, prophets, evangelists etc more than the God on their inside. We have the same spirit inside us, the spirit in others that you appreciate is not more than the one on your inside, the reason it seems that way is because you have not given attention to the one on your own inside. God wants to speak to you the same way he speaks to them and you can attain that level if you train yourself to focus on the God on your inside.
